Northwake built Ply as a focused tool for knitters. This page explains what information the app uses, how it is stored, and what rights you have. We have kept things simple because there is genuinely very little to explain.
What we collect
Ply does not collect any personal data. We do not track you, we do not link any information to your identity, and we do not share anything with third parties for advertising or measurement. No account is required to use the app, and we do not integrate any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
How your data is stored on device
All data created in Ply is stored locally on your own devices using Apple's platform APIs and is protected by your device's built-in security and encryption.

—
Projects. Row and repeat counts and related project data are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData persistence on your devices.
-
—
Preferences. App preferences such as appearance mode and which project was last opened are stored using UserDefaults on device for app functionality.
-
—
Widget. The iPhone app and widget extension share a small amount of data through Apple's App Group container so widgets can display your last-opened project. This data stays on your device.
-
—
Apple Watch. When you use Ply on a paired Apple Watch, project data syncs between your iPhone and that watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This is a direct device-to-device transfer over Apple's system and is not sent to Northwake servers.
Your rights under GDPR
Northwake is based in the EU and this app may be used by people in the European Economic Area. Because Ply does not collect or process any personal data, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end. If you have any questions about your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, please contact us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
